Posterior segment manifestations and imaging features of COVID-19

Background: To report the posterior segment (uvea and retinal) manifestations imaging characteristics of eyes patients with after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).Methods: We searched PubMed/MEDLINE database to identify relevant articles using following search terms: COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, retina, uvea, optic nerve, retinal findings, manifestations, endophthalmitis. Articles published from December 1, 2019, May 30, 2021, indexed in were screened.Results: For purpose this review, we included clinical features 26 case reports 8 series. The reported cotton wool spots, hemorrhages, central serous retinopathy, papillophlebitis, neuritis, panuveitis, multifocal retinitis, necrotizing artery/vein occlusion, Purtschner like retinopathy. In have also optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) that been described COVID-19 pneumonia.Conclusions: can experience uveo-retinal even recovery. These patients, if asymptomatic for eye symptoms, should undergo an evaluation rule out involvement. OCTA performed these revealed microvascular changes superficial deep plexuses. Some may require anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy.
